How could we pass up the opportunity to showcase our flowers at the Bernstein & Gold Customer Appreciation Party? One of our favorite details was the green cymbidium orchids we wired up to place in the hair of all the staff so they could coordinate with the arrangements. I tell you sometimes it really is all in the details! Jenna Tye took these wonderful photos for us! Thank you Jenna! We love you and your work!

Trail Appliance Party

We are little behind on the updates! This party took place in November, however the images are just now available. By far the favorite arrangement for us was the one we did in a large red tool box. We were asked to create the flowers for the grand opening of the new Trail Appliance showroom on the Westshore. We had a ball coming up with all kinds of industrial twists! Take a look! Outdoor decorating for Christmas

Here are some images from the outdoor decorating for the recent open house at Feys & Hobbs. It was a great event and we were thrilled with the exposure. Everyone loved the eggplants and artichokes that we put in the cedar swag and garland. We could not resist including vegetables and fruit in the arrangements, as Feys and Hobbs is a caterer after all! Can't wait to create some more fabulous arrangements for the new clients we met

Christmas at Verbena

Yes you read it right...Christmas is upon us. By us I mean in the world of parties, decorations, and the like. As most of you don't even begin to think about the holidays for at least another month, we here at Verbena have been collecting ideas, and dreaming up the latest in floral design for the season. With several parties already booked we are excited to get to work, and make our visions become a reality. By far our favorite design so far is our "Apple Basket Centrepiece" shown here. Stay tuned for more designs, we will post them as we do them.

Sunny Summer Inspirations

Sometimes when it gets so cold it's nice to remember the floral bounty that summer offers....the lush hydrangea, cheerful gerber's, the bright and delicious colors the sunshine brings out in us, and all of a sudden our feet don't feel so cold!

Liz Hampton and Danny Goepel’s Wedding at Brix Restaurant in Vancouver

Have design company will travel. Our first wedding as Verbena Floral Design happened to be in Vancouver. Liz and Danny who run the Cobs Breads in Kerrisdale asked us to create the florals for their spectacular wedding on October 12, 2007. The entire event took place at a fabulous restaurant in Yaletown called Brix. Our jumping off point was inspired by Liz’s love of bright and bold colors. We were thrilled; what an opportunity we had to think outside the box. We were able to combine colors not normally seen in traditional bridal bouquets. The Tuscan feel of the courtyard where the ceremony took place was enhanced by the lush arrangements we hung off the lanterns. Details included a carpet of bright rose petals for the bride and groom to stand on, and beautiful lime green and orange cymbidium orchids hanging from the tree. One of the highlights for us was walking over to Opus Hotel where Liz and Corrine were waiting to present her and her bridesmaid with their bouquets and offer some last minute pearls of wisdom to Liz. We all walked together up to Brix and waited with her before she walked towards Danny to the strains of Ella singing “At Last” It was perfect!

Art Gallery of Greater Victoria and Feys+Hobbs Christmas Event

Once again we were contacted by David “the genius” Feys (and no we are not married to him or even related) and his event planner extraordinaire Christine Smart, to create some table centerpieces to showcase their fabulous linens and stylish and current table settings. The event took place at the Greater Victoria Art Gallery and was coordinated from there by Lauren Garvey, Event Planner. The idea behind this party was to showcase the amazing space that the Art Gallery has to host everything from corporate meetings and parties, to romantic and stylish weddings. It truly is a unique and remarkable space. Of course the food was out of this world and anybody wanting a Christmas Party catered by Feys and Hobbs is in for a real treat. It goes without saying that the floral arrangements were a huge hit, especially one that we created in a container made from fresh apples. Grania Litwin and Bruce Stotesbury of the Times Colonist were there to cover the event. The article featuring the party was in the paper on Tuesday October 2, 2007. We will keep you posted about the upcoming Christmas Feature article about Verbena. Although it was a lot of work we were thrilled with the outcome.

Victoria Baby Fair – Sprouts Kids Boutique Booth

One of Verbena’s very first jobs…”serendipitous?”… There we were shopping for Vanessa’s daughter Lily at Sprouts Kids Boutique, this new hip kid’s store on Herald Street. Vanessa was as usual running her mouth off about how thrilled she was to see this style of store for kids in Victoria. Jenny was as usual listening politely. We struck up a conversation with Tracey who owns the store and talked about her process and journey with her best friend Shari and how they came together to start this business. We of course were intrigued because our story was so similar. Next thing you know, inspired by the large jars of marshmallows behind the counter, we had offered to do some floral arrangements for their booth at the Victoria Baby Fair. We were thrilled with the finished product as were Tracey and Shari. Erin Brule from Prairie Child Photography sent us these great shots of the finished product. Vanessa also managed to rope in David Feys from Feys and Hobbs Catered Arts to create some cookies to give away to their guests.
