Karley + Timon
On May 16, Karley and Timon tied the knot at Villa Marco Polo-this wedding was a masterpiece. Everything about it suited this sweet couple to a tee.
The custom invitations were created by Victoria’s Tuktu Paper.
The intimate wedding ceremony was breathtaking… and tear inducing. The couple’s gorgeous children, including their baby twins (seriously, how did they have the energy to plan such a gorgeous wedding?!), and their family surrounded them in the beautiful gardens.
Bash Specialty created a couple seating lounge areas that fit in beautifully at the elegant venue. The event was planned by Barb from French Kiss Events, photographed by Ryan McDonald Photography, the bride’s hair was done by Elena at Concious Hair and makeup was by Melanie Baird.
Immediately following the big kiss was a cocktail picnic reception with creative snacks, including a mashed potato bar, a pretzel bar catered by Toque Catering.
About 20 people stayed for dinner in the Villa Marco Polo’s exquisite dining room. Just before dinner started, local actors in costume came by and set up the scene for a murder, which the guests had fun solving over the course of the evening.
The colours were elegant, whites, greens and touches of grey, blue and gold, and they tied in with the surroundings of the elegant dining room. Solomon’s seal, beautiful fresh, spring flowers, including columbia, ranunculus, lily of the valley and viburnum—my fave spring flower of all (I just think it makes every arrangement spectacular). And. The. Tree. Peony. Let me tell you about the tree peony… Eidwenn from Cartref Gardens had them (they are virtually impossible to get) and was generous enough to cut some for me. They have the lush-but-refined, elegant look we were pulling together-and they were perfection. Congratulations, Karley and Timon! Thank you for asking us to be a part of creating your perfect day.

Silken + Patch
Our team at Verbena was over the moon when we were hired for the wedding of rowing champs Silken Laumann and David Patchell Evans. The Olympic gold medallist and GoodLife Fitness owner were planning an intimate wedding at their home in Victoria, BC, and asked us to create large floral arrangements, bouquets and boutonnieres, and also to put together the table decor.
We combined white and green flowers with touches of burgundy and merlot as a subtle and sophisticated nod to the colours of the Canadian Flag. The team drew on nature-evoking foliage like ferns and grasses, and used gorgeous lime green hops, fluffy white hydrangeas and breathtaking roses. On the table, we used touches of dark grey, antique-inspired votives and tall dark grey tapers to set the mood. Laura Prpich from Tuktu Paper was the genius behind all the paper goods and the gorgeous turquoise leather journals at the place settings (an ode to Silken’s love of journaling). She created all the place cards (each with a hand-stamped wax seal), the menus and programs. Each place setting also had a beautiful velvety chocolate cosmo on the napkin.

Alex + Yu Nong
The flowers we chose were rich and dramatic, but rustic, which captured the essence of this couple: refined and relaxed.
The wedding started at 9 a.m. with a tea ceremony. At 3 p.m. the couple said their vows surrounded by an intimate circle of their family and friends.

The gorgeous succulents were grown just for this wedding.
This was the first time we used our fancy new rustic bar, which we rent out as a set along with rustic stands for cocktail tables and more. It was well loved while guests and the couple and their family danced the night away to a swinging jazz trio.
Can you spot the stunning merlot coloured lady slipper orchid? A last minute addition, we added them to Yu Nong’s bouquet without knowing the national flower of Singapore is an orchid! Yu Nong and Alex were both so touched.

Michelle + Brad
Set at the historic and magical Hatley Castle, Michelle and Brad said their vows surrounded by their loved ones, and captured by Jade’s Photography. We used muted purple and pink roses, with accents of darker purple against a backdrop of dusty miller and other foliage, which we ordered from the amazing “Farmer Shelley”.
The dining room and arbour were stunning. The ceremony was incredible and our bouquets were perfect. Cannot thank you enough for bringing my vision to life so effortlessly and so so so spot on. You’ve been an absolute pleasure to deal with and I wish you all the best!! Cheers, MichelleAnd here are some pics Vanessa took during set up:Stephanie and Lily (Vanessa’s daughter) hard at work setting up in the castle.
