The roses were shaped like hearts. And so it was, our inspiration point for this gorgeous spring wedding. Red was the colour of the day, so no need venture far from one of the most spectacular red flowers I know of. The Red Charm Peony a stunning flower and the perfect compliment to our overall palette and those gorgeous heart shaped roses.

The day starts dropping the bouquets off to Hilary and her bridesmaids, who were being masterfully made up with the help of the uber talented Mel Baird and Jen Clarke. God those girls are good at what they do!

Then it was off the incredible Hatley Castle to add some fleurish to the quarter deck ballroom. This place really is one of the most beautiful venues on Vancouver Island. Teaming up with Truffles Catering, we set up the ballroom and result was perfect!

Endless details…..

Sera & Sebastian were married today. What a beautiful day it was. I love spring, and I love playing with all the flowers that we get in spring, it is the perfect time of year to get married, so this was a great wedding for me to be a part of. The ceremony was at the lovely chapel at St. Anne’s and the reception was in the stunning dining room of Church & State Winery in Brentwood Bay BC.

The “theme” of this wedding was birds, along with a whole bunch of lovely natural elements that embraced the couples love of the outdoors. We had a great time “scaping” the tables with all kinds of birds, nests, moss and ferns. The end result was gorgeous!

We incorporated the birds and the natural elements throughout the rest of the decor, from the wishing tree with hanging candles and the gift table with the antique bird cage.

The bride’s bouquet was a beautiful combination of purples and greens with roses, lisianthus, anenome, freesia, viburnum and gorgeous purple hydrangeas, the maid of honour had a little less purple and more white and the bridemaid’s was even less purple. The effect was beautiful.

I have been waiting and waiting to be able to team up with Emmy and Aaron of EA Photography and today was the day. I am just a bit excited to say the least, and can’t wait to see their images from the day. Those two know how to cover every inch of a wedding and no detail is too small for them. Can’t wait! The lovely and talented Christine Smart of Smart Events was the unflappable coordinator of the wedding, everything works like clock work, when she is on site, such a treat!

And the saving the best for last, the cake! I am constantly amazed by the genius of Corina Ludwig from Passion for Cakes, she is just so good at this, and this cake was proof positive that she is the best cake artist on the Island.

We want to revisit it as we prepare for this years upcoming season. Here are some detail shots from one of the most beautiful weddings we have ever done (again in my humble opinion). I still get chills when I look through these images. Especially the ones at the end from Jenna & Tristan, I mean seriously can you get any better than these two?

This was a wedding of two very special people. Kathryn and Colin have a love story to stand the test of time and this day was a celebration of all that has been and all that is to come.

Nothing is more french then lavander so we used it everywhere, including on the steps of the gazebo where the couple stood to say their vows.

The tables were laid with antique sheet music and jars filled with a combination of ladies mantle, queen anne’s lace, scabiosa, freesia, craspedia, lavander and asters. They fit perfectly in the country garden setting.

The beautiful bridesmaids emerge from the house along with the bride in a lovely lace dress made by her future mother in law to be. The entire day was filled with a warm and inviting sense homemade love.

Nobody covers a wedding like Jenna and Tristan, these two are perfection and not only are their images perfection but as you can see Jenna can walk backwards for miles if it means capturing the perfect shot of the bride. I know that their images from this day will be spectacular, just like them!

Kathryn & Colin, I wish you many more music and love filled days together and thank you for allowing me to be a part of your beautiful day. Watching you two, watch each other today is one of the many reasons I do what I do.
